There may be some who may be a little dismayed about the fact that I look at a statement like the Port Huron Statement as having more integrity than the US Constitution for example and that you may disagree very strongly so and this is ok. And only a week ago I would have joined you until on the way to work in my car over the last week I was listening to one of the morning talk radio programs that's Glen Beck on AM 540 WFLA out of Orlando, FL when a comment was aired on Mr. Beck's program from some banking, business or governmental official (I do not know for certain because I was driving to work and distracted by traffic but if you contact the Glen Beck show for the week of from the 12th to the 16th of February I'm sure he could provide a tape of the comment) stating that "money trumps everything" with references to that even of the US Constitution. At this point my mouth dropped open and I fully realized that the US Constitution had just been relegated to a mere piece of paper with ink on it. The proof of that statement came only a few days later with a vote in congress for a non binding resolution for the war in Iraq to demonstrate a lack of support both in principal and through a discontinuation of funding any escalation for a greater build up of troops and hardware.
Than I began to think about the question as to why have a non binding resolution at all when in fact the vote is pointless and has no teeth toward any action whatsoever. And then I noticed this, here in the 8th Congressional District in Florida the Congressman voted against to all accounts a majority of his constituents wishes. The reason he sited for this was some personal consciousness about the war as if the consciousness of all the thousands of his constituents was somehow irrelevant and by his actions he denigrated virtually all of those who voted him into the office of congressman in the first place. So here the good congressman of the 8th district of Florida who is charged to represent the interest of those who voted him into office votes against those seeming interest for reasons of some self conscious act. Why?
It may be true that the war in Iraq may be looking more and more pointless and seated as it were in the middle of a low intensity civil war but we cannot abandon the troops or their mission until an effective conclusion can be reached. It may be that this non binding vote in congress is some type of mechanism to force the Bush Administration into an action phase to find a way to that conclusion and if so state that, though my thinking is otherwise. If we wish to have an effective plan to end our the US role in the Iraq war than we need to craft that plan in the full view of all the people of the United States of America arbitrate it and than have a full and binding vote in congress with methods and time tables fully laid out. Minus this type of approach I question just what is going on in the halls of congress and just what the ultimate point of the vote may be.
As I look across the issues here in the United States I see one common thread from the issue of illegal immigration, uncontrolled boarders, still no uniform national health care, major and continuing infrastructural decay in electrical, highway, rail and other systems that need our attention and an over haul, add also the fact that people are working harder than ever with families over extended at every turn and over production in the housing market and automobiles which is forcing the closures and lay off of thousands (like they couldn't see that coming a few years ago with enough time still to retool the intermediate goods structure), the common thread I see are in those words quoted on the Glen Beck program of "money trumps everything". It's all about the money including in the halls of congress where once you a new or idealized public servant arrives within the Washington Beltway the power of Money Power Politics blows those who may not have the best of anchors any which way it likes. This is what I see and I am just a casual observer from afar, imagine being close up, though id rather not.
This now brings us back to the fact that over the last week imperceptibly the US Constitution has just become a piece of paper with ink on it and no longer stands as a document of living principles guiding the lives, hopes and dreams of the citizens here in what was the United States of America.
Without an integral Constitution, a living Constitution as noted in the previous sentence, a Constitution that stands as a guiding foundation, this Nation, This United States of America no longer exist.
Last week the last of the Constitutional Parchment came through the back end of the shredder falling into the basket of ill repute and this Country the United States of America is now going by the way of history such as others like Rome and I say this from the platform of this new fledgling field of human endeavor called Planetary Development and why to quote the man "money trumps everything" including Nations, people and ultimately at this point Worlds and civilizations as well.
So what can be done?
There is only one way to resolve this situation. We the people of the United States of America shall have to reach down into that basket of ill repute and gather all those pieces of shredded parchment and with glue and tape in hand, a lot of patients, hard work and dedication of the same kind that created that original parchment and Constitution in the first place painstakingly put this the United States of America back together again form the ground up. I say this, if We The People were to do this thing in concert with no aggression toward our differences and stand up as One Nation the entire World will take notice and see a true and just form of living principles and government emerge. The other Nations of the World will have no excuse to hold their differences out as a hammer up in the faces of what only has become fellow citizens in the same struggle of just trying to make a better life for themselves. This could facilitate a new age of human interaction which of coarse would be good for our worlds planetary development.
If this were to occur, you might actually see the US Constitution added to and above the Port Huron Statement on this pages ranking of that which is a more integral doctrine, but it really is up to the American people to change this.

I put this page up principally because the of issue noted on Mr. Beck's program which made me give thought about the greater foundations I have looked at from work or people who have come before our present time. You see the Port Huron Statement regardless of what you may think about it deals with the whole system maybe not perfectly or completely but does so in a way that not to many other pieces of work do and that is why I chose it. If there is anyone out there that has something else to offer please do and it may indeed end up on the list of integral documents on this page as well. Oh and if so, your name shall be listed by that document as the one who presented it for this page and use.
I am not at all deluded about the task ahead which shall be ongoing for many generations to come. It is time to start dealing with and talking about the "BIG WE" and this means all of us on this world, nations and all. It is not the intent of Planetary Development to dissolve out the Nation States or cultures on this world. It is the intent of Planetary Development to establish a framework of projects, missions, goals and dreams common to all upon our world like the full colonization and industrialization of the moon as one example. This is where each people, each nation can find their own niche within the matrix of opportunities that come from such activities. You might say it is a way to establish what is analogous to a super middle class upon our world. This shall be only one of the objectives of the field of Planetary Development as it proceeds ahead across time.
I am continually concerned about just how the mean perspective seems to revolve around the "BIG I" and how money always plays such an intrical role in maintaining and promulgating the "BIG I" prospective. So when I hear a statement like "money trumps everything" and see the goings on in places like Washington from those of whom we send to represent our the peoples interest only to be disregarded like in the case of the 8th congressional district in Florida as it was announced on the radio today, disregarded by a ratio of 20 to 1 against the congressman vote and position I have to wonder about what really is going on behind the seines in a place like Washington. Here overwhelmingly the people are saying no to the non binding vote and dismissed out of hand as if we the people don't even exist and that the congressman and the congressman alone is the only one of any importance, the "BIG I" or the "BIG ME". It's all about me these days or what's in it for me or what's the pay off, that sort of think. Everyone seems to be jockeying for a position for a piece of the pie. This is a static view point in form and function. You see my good people one of the other objectives of the field of Planetary Development is to expand the pie out to infinity and there will be no guessing as to where the future or economic opportunities are no guessing at all. In fact the diversity of opportunities shall be so great as to confuse any one looking to find a niche in the market for there will be just so, so many niches to fill.
You see the "BIG WE" has a "BIG WE" payoff. At this time though, the challenge is to point this out in such a way so that the "BIG I" or the "BIG ME" can finally come to understand this and that the "BIG I" or the "BIG ME" must be patient and Realize that the "BIG I" or the "BIG ME" does indeed have a very real place within the "BIG WE".

If you want to try an experiment try comparing the above book written in 1962 to the children's books of today. Now I am very much aware that there were very cute books written for kids back then without all the science and engineering but go looking for those science and engineering books written now for today's kids in the schools and see what you find.
Oh, when I Googled "Modern Science and Engineering Children's books" Google pulled up the below link. Go ahead pull up the google page on the subject and check it out for relevance and see what you get.

Well, it would seem that since my first posting here in the education section that someone at Google or otherwise has weighed in on the above link where a host of new material has been added on with far more relevancy, actually it is good to see when I first googled it I only saw three items that were not so relevant now there are hundreds with far more relevancy. Cool!!!
