| My Second Visit to The Venus Project |
On 05/24/08
As a result of some questions I forwarded to Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows of The Venus Project I was invited back for a continuing question and answer session about the process. As I arrived back to The Venus Project I was greeted By Jacque warmly where he then sat and answered some questions and then the primary concern of my visit. My main question revolved around what I was seeing as a possible long term unintended consequence of a society that no longer has the visceral struggle of survival to contend with. As I put it to Jacque I said that we are a species that has come to where we are both physically and mentally in biological terms as a direct result of tens of thousands of years of adaptive evolutionary processes honed by the day in and day out struggles of life which grew our mental and dexterous capacity to were we now find it. My concern was not with the immediate few hundred of years ahead with such a plan as The Venus Project but across many millenniums where the innate struggles of survival and zeal or need to press on as a species no longer exist that we our species may begin to decline starting a process of devolution. Jacques answer to this was very direct. He said that the intent of socio cyberneering within The Venus Project is aimed as his videos say of removing the repetitive day to day tasks so that all of society's human potential can be realized. He also noted that there will as a result of the increased potential be enough work within human enhancement as to offset that innate visceral struggle maintaining that zeal as I put it of pushing us on as a species allowing us to continue on an upward evolutionary curve.
After awhile Roxanne came in the room adding a shift in direction on the conversation saying that all the previous week a Swedish film crew who left the day before had filmed many interview segments with Jacque and her for an upcoming video. She also said that the work on the video with Zeitgeist was underway that would be called "Zeitgeist the Addendum" due to come out in October of this year. She also noted that there are pending radio Internet program opportunities coming along as well. All of which revolves around The Venus Project and what it offers the people of our world. She pointed out the many small videos that they have produced as well as a compilation of Jacques life and his work on The Venus Project over the many years called the "Future by Design". Roxanne brought up the book that they had produced called "The Best That Money Can't Buy - Beyond Politics, Poverty and War" where it outlines in fine detail the thinking process and reasoning behind The Venus Project and the Future by Design concepts. Having a copy myself I would advise anyone thinking in terms of whole system designs both in social and in physical modeling to read it. You will be surprised as to the background it lays in thought about The Venus Project and open your eyes in unexpected ways about our species future potential. It envisions the mind to dream.
Now where does Planetary Development's position stand on The Venus Project? Well it supports it for the fact that our civilization is inexorably moving as Roxanne reminded me a day or so back toward a blend of computer and human innovation so one might say that man and machine are destined for greater cohabitation together. The question is to what degree and what will it look like maybe more like The Venus Project perhaps. While there Jacque mentioned that one of the first real things that needed doing preface to any global planning is to do an assessment of all the worlds recourses which I totally agree with it is high time to begin a process toward that end. The entire process will take some years to compile and collate the data needed. Perhaps starting out in bulk commodities separating it out by way of industry, ranching and agriculture, inorganic and organic, Nation States and Indigenous lands, hydrous v/s anhydrous lands with cartographers working to affix the information to location, amount, population and or need until a highly definitive map begins to appear at present Planetary Development has 900 e-mail boxes along with 40 FTP accounts plus a host of communication media capabilities available for use through the website to throw in on the start of this process. If there is anyone out there that would wish to help go to the network request page on this website and sign up we will begin organizing from there. Also if there are others that would like to support either The Venus Project or the Future by Design concepts contact their websites at www.TheVenusProject.com or www.FuturebyDesign.org it's time to begin our worlds great transition forward.
